Keto Breakfast Smoothie
A healthy, keto friendly breakfast smoothie to start your day...
I start most days with a cup of black coffee and then by mid-morning I have coffee with butter and MCT oil.
But some days I really want a rich and flavorsome smoothie. On those days I make a quick and delicious low carb smoothie.
One of my favorites is this chia breakfast smoothie. It is a good keto friendly breakfast option as it only has 4 grams of net carbs per serving.

Chia seeds are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids and are packed with fiber.
The collagen protein powder will give you a moderate amount of protein and the MCT oil will give you the fats your body need and the energy, clarity and satiety you’ll need for a productive day.

Variations and Tips
I usually let the chia seeds soak overnight, but it is not really necessary.
I do think it is important for them to get some time to soak. So if you plan to make it for breakfast, why not add the chia seeds into the liquid as soon as you wake up and then make your drink when you are ready?
For a dairy free option, replace the heavy cream with coconut cream or coconut milk.
Generally I don’t like the taste of stevia, but I don't mind it is in smoothies.
If you really don’t like stevia, then add confectioners erythritol. You can also grind granular erythritol into a fine powder, before adding it to your drink.
I don’t like my smoothies very sweet. If you do, then add more sweetener.
If you are used to making high carb, fruit filled smoothies, you are probably thicken your smoothies with banana or maybe even mango.
Thickening your smoothie with chia seeds is much healthier and a good way to make a ketogenic smoothie.
So not only do chia seeds thicken my smoothie, they are also known as a super food. To learn more about the health benefits of these little miracle seeds, watch Dr Josh Axe explain why they are so healthy...

One final suggestion – Don’t gulp down your keto breakfast smoothie, enjoy it slowly and savor every mouthful…
